Starting our anniversary!

Starting our anniversary!

20 festival years are behind us, six intense festival days ahead: Tonight, we start the anniversary edition of VIENNA SHORTS with a festive opening gala at Gartenbaukino.

We are looking forward to great films on the big screen and our wonderful guests on stage, to a full cinema and sentimental opening words, to champagne and dancing in the party-proof cinema foyer. The next five days will be packed: with 340 films at six venues in Vienna, industry events, parties, open-air screenings, a concert, and much, much more. For daily previews and recaps, follow us on instagram!

GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR FESTIVAL VISIT

Short films are at the heart of our festival—but there is much more to experience around them: Take the chance and stay for Q&As with (international) filmmakers or curators following many of the screenings. Meet the 200 or so film and industry guests—and us!—at the MuseumsQuartier: Have a go at the interactive Shakespeare machine at our festival center, enjoy the VIENNA SHORTS ice cream flavor Raspberry Chili at Veganista, visit Doom Mood, the exhibition of our MQ Artist-in-Residence Hannah Stragholz, at ASIFAkeil, and watch films in the evening at the free open-air cinema. At night, let’s dance together today at the Gartenbaukino foyer, at the Fête Très Chic on Saturday at Celeste and at our big birthday party on Tuesday at FLUCC.

At the open-air events, today’s youth program three quarters as well as our industry events, admission is free—and if you’re under 20 years of age, you can attend the festival for free in general: You’ll get your ticket (while supplies last) after age verification at the cinema. Any questions left? We have collected facts about your festival visit and our film portal in our FAQ section.
