WATCH OUR TRAILER FOR THE 19TH EDITION

Kids on the beach, ice cream in hand, along with familiar sounds and a grainy image—we're quite smitten with this year’s festival trailer, created by Thelyia Petraki. See for yourself!

Thelyia Petraki, last year’s winner and one of our three artists in residence, uses analog footage to directly reference our festival focus “We've Come A Long Long Way Together” with which we delve into (film) history. “The situation in our world is quite unpredictable at the moment, which is why we spend a lot of time studying the past,” says the Greek filmmaker. “We have to understand what is currently happening and remember that we have to stick together if we want to survive.”

ABOUT OUR 19TH FESTIVAL EDITION

With just three weeks to go, the 19th edition of VIENNA SHORTS will present around 360 films from 70 countries. For the first time, the festival program is divided into three segments: Some 130 films can be experienced exclusively in theaters between May 25 and 30, and another 130 films exclusively on our film portal, available until June 30. In addition, 94 competition films will be shown first in theaters and then online after the awards ceremony on May 30.

All details will be available on May 17, when we publish the complete program. Tickets will be available from May 18. Festival passes will be available for cinema only (25 Euro), online only (10 Euro) and in combination (30 Euro).
