SOLIDARITY: NOW ONLINE & SOON OPEN-AIR

SOLIDARITY: NOW ONLINE & SOON OPEN-AIR

The deportation of Viennese schoolgirls recently caused an uproar in Austria. Why are children—some even born in this country—deported in the middle of the night? And if the law allows this to happen, is the law sound? With the program Standing With Those Who Have No Rights we are addressing a politically sensitive topic—starting now on THIS IS SHORT and on May 28 also in the open-air cinema.

The program is part of the section Four Perspectives, which is realized together with the Short Film Festival Oberhausen (DE), the Go Short Festival in Nijmegen (NL) and the Short Waves Festival in Poznan (PL). All four festivals are focusing on the theme of solidarity in specially curated programs - and all four programs are dedicated to different aspects of the topic.

The four programs can be seen one after the other on the platform THIS IS SHORT, starting on May 12 it is time for our perspective. In the last week of June, at the end of the first round of the new streaming platform, all four programs can be watched in parallel. As part of our festival, we'll be showing a shortened version of the program (according to the curfew) in the open air at Karmeliterplatz on May 28.

We will publish more information about the program on May 18.
