Matea Kovač (HR) is an animator and film director. Her visually dynamic animated film Y won the Jury Prize in the international Animation Avantgarde 2024 competition. In collaboration with the MQ in Vienna, Kovač will serve as an artist-in-residence in May, working alongside sculptor Ana Maria Maravić to develop the visual language for a picture book, which will later be adapted into a short animated film. Screenwriter and film director Hilke Rönnfeldt (DK), whose film A Study Of Empathy won the Golden Leopard in Locarno in 2023 and was one of our opening films, will arrive in Vienna in June.
