THE WINNERS OF THE AUSTRIAN COMPETITION
Sarah Pech receives the Austrian Short Film Award (endowed with € 4,000 in cash and € 2,000 in non-cash prizes) as well as qualifications for the OscarⓇ and the Austrian Film Award for her film “Ich hab dich tanzen sehn” (I saw you were dancing), which depicts a hauntingly enchanting trip of a young girl through her nighttime neighborhood. In the hands of the director, this neighborhood becomes the backdrop for a refreshing story of personal development. The best newcomer this year is Lidija-Rukiye Kumpas, who won the Jury Prize for her film “gül,” described by the jury as “a beautifully crafted film that addresses themes such as family, migration, belonging, and the concept of home - a sense of security and rootedness.” The film “Valley Pride” receives an honorable mention for artistic achievement, and “Annoyance” by Sascha Vernik wins the ORF Topos Audience Award for the most popular film under 12 minutes. The film “Louanne & Thaïs” by Josephine Jeltsch receives the Youth Jury Prize, which states, “This film could also be a Netflix production from the Vienna Film Academy.”Here is the link to all the awards and jury justifications.
