AWARDING SHORTS: PARADISE EUROPE WINS NCNA-PRIZE
The German-Brazilian short film Paradise Europe: Du bist so wunderbar by Leandro Goddinho and Paulo Menezes is the winner of the first edition of the New Critics & New Audiences Award presented by the short film magazine Talking Shorts. The award, sponsored by the European Network for Film Discourse and supported by the Creative Europe MEDIA program, aims to connect emerging film critics with new audiences for European short films. The six films in contention were nominated by participants of the 2023 European Workshops for Film Criticism, one of which took place in Vienna. The nominees were Yann Gonzalez's HIDEOUS, Joachim Hérissé's SKINNED, Moritz Geiser's WHY DOES HELEN KOCH COMMIT SERIOUS VEHICLE THEFT?, Anna Vasof's SAVING SOME RANDOM INSIGNIFICANT STORIES, Mathilde Profit's PERSER LÉNA, and Leandro Goddinho and Paulo Menezes's PARADISE EUROPE.After two weeks of online voting, PARADISE EUROPE was chosen by the magazine's audience. The filmmakers will receive a cash prize of €1,000. Congratulations!
