Renowned boundary-pushing filmmaker and provocative genre auteur, Yann Gonzalez from France, is being celebrated with a dedicated portrait in our 21st festival edition. His film still from Hideous (2022) graces this year's theme. In addition to his contributions, Gonzalez is crafting the festival trailer, serving as part of the FIDO jury, and will extend his stay in Vienna post-festival as an artist-in-residence in collaboration with MQ. Joining him is our second artist-in-residence, Balázs Turai from Hungary, a distinguished animation designer, director, and screenwriter. Turai, honored with the jury prize in last year's Animation Avantgarde competition for his unconventional and impactful film Amok (2022), will be arriving in Vienna in just under a week.
