With our Live section, we venture beyond the screen. This year, we look forward to a cinema concert by W1ZE as part of the Austrian Music Video Award and two audio-visual performances: Hyperdust by Jorge Sánchez-Chiong & TE‑R featuring Schallfeld Ensemble and Albern by Dariusz Kowalski and Stefan Németh. Once again, METRO Kinokulturhaus will be the perfect venue for these shows.

W1ZE

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call W1ZE an artist that has given the Austrian music landscape a professional, boundary-pushing touch. Aside from being breathtakingly productive, heartstoppingly disciplined, and gifted with an ear for catchy tunes, she is also passionately committed to issues of diversity and equality in the music industry. We are pleased to present W1ZE live at the historic METRO Kinokulturhaus theater and to subsequently announce the winner of the eleventh Austrian Music Video Award—which for the first time comes with a prize money of € 2,500 provided by Film- und Musikwirtschaft Wien.

World premiere of a live performance. When a young ensemble for contemporary music that goes by the name of Schallfeld joins forces with the adventurous composer and electronic musician Jorge Sánchez-Chiong and invites the film artists Louise Linsenbolz und Thomas Wagensommerer—who go by the collective moniker TE-R—to contribute to a reinterpretation of a media space . . . it’s not just aural dimensions that open up but also visual vistas!

ALBERN
02.06., 9 p.m., METRO Kinokulturhaus

Der Alberner Hafen ist ein langsamer Ort. Schiffe passieren die Donau, mal fährt ein Güterzug vor, um Getreide abzuholen, mal werden hier große Windräder verladen. Ein bescheidener Umschlagplatz, historisch ganz anders geplant. Nach Feierabend verwandelt sich das Hafenareal regelrecht in eine freie Zone für diverse Freizeitaktivitäten. Das Filmprojekt ist eine essayistische und musikalische Hommage an den Stadtrand. Live-Performance mit Musik von Stefan Németh und dem Film von Dariusz Kowalski.
