Tree Trophy: Catch ‘em if you can playfully combines film and green city exploration using augmented reality. The game is designed to make the Viennese trees which are dedicated to festival award winners since 2023 discoverable in a fun way, rewarding players with cinema tickets and festival passes. The project, funded by the Vienna Business Agency and implemented by the creative companies Tempuno and Pomper.Dev, is scheduled for release in the Vienna Shorts app for iOS and Android in fall 2025. By then, around 30 trees scattered throughout Vienna will be included in the game, and the associated award-winning films will be viewable directly via QR codes. The locations of the existing 19 tree trophies are already available on the festival’s website.
