We are happy to announce that there’s a lot more at stake for this year’s nominees: The prize money has grown by almost € 5,000 and now amounts to almost € 30,000. In addition, there is still the chance to qualify for the Academy Awards, the British Film Award BAFTA, the European Film Award and the Austrian Film Award—and we will reveal the secret of our brand new, somewhat different trophy in May.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all award sponsors for their great commitment. ASIFA Austria has raised the prize in the Animation Avantgarde competition as well as the Viennese Film and Music Industry FIMU the sum for the Austrian Music Video Award. The Austrian Association of Cinematographers AAC has entered the Fiction & Documentary competition with a prize for best cinematography, and our long-time partners Blautöne and viennaFX have established a new prize for best sound in the Austrian competition.
