As of October 1, 2024, Karin Ginzel has taken over the position of Managing Director at Vienna Shorts and now joins Daniel Hadenius-Ebner as part of the festival's executive team. Karin has signed a contract for the next three years and was warmly welcomed during the annual general meeting of the Independent Cinema Association.

Karin Ginzel worked for over three years at the Federal Chancellery before becoming self-employed in the gastronomy sector, where she was responsible for both operational and strategic decisions. Additionally, she worked for two years in the software industry, where she successfully applied her expertise in business development, product management and financial planning. She brings extensive experience in business management, staff leadership, and international networking and will help steer the festival into a safe and optimistic future.

With the appointment of Karin Ginzel comes a structural change at Vienna Shorts. From now on, the executive management is once again divided into an artistic and a commercial director; this clearer division of responsibilities replaces the previously followed co-directorship model and aims to alleviate the workload of the senior positions.
