GREEN TROPHIES: FILM TREES IN VIENNA

GREEN TROPHIES: FILM TREES IN VIENNA

Together with Vienna's City Councillor for Culture Veronica Kaup-Hasler and City Councillor for the Environment Jürgen Czernohorszky, our new tree trophies have finally been officially inaugurated. The last plaque on a horse chestnut tree in Prater Hauptallee (corner of Laternenweg) was ceremoniously unveiled in the presence of director Jasmin Baumgartner (Bye Bye, Bowser) to represent the ten trees planted in spring and dedicated to the festival's prizewinners.

The green trophies in public places give the filmmakers a lasting presence in Vienna's cityscape and enable everyone in the city to watch the award-winning films directly on site (within a radius of 100 meters) via a QR code. Baumgartner's film could become a popular point of contact, as her punk romance has just been invited to the renowned Sundance Festival.

The presentation of the "green trophy" took place in the presence of Marijana Stoisits (Vienna Film Commission) and Karl Hawliczek (MA 42), who were significantly involved in the project, as well as the district head of Leopoldstadt, Alexander Nikolai. And the two festival directors Doris Bauer and Daniel Hadenius-Ebner happily stated: "Over the coming years, we want to enable a real film and tree walk through the city."
