We are overwhelmed: For the 20th edition of VIENNA SHORTS (June 1 to 6, 2023) we have received more than 6,000 short films from 130 countries! This is (once again) a record number—and a great challenge for our viewers and programmers. Thank you to all filmmakers who trusted us and submitted their films!

Now it’s time to select the 35 or so productions for the international Fiction & Documentary and Animation Avantgarde competitions, as well as 15 to 25 films each for the national categories Austria Competition and Austrian Music Video Award. A total of 25,000 euros in prize money will be awarded. The winners can also qualify for the Academy Awards, the BAFTA, the European Film Award and the Austrian Film Award.
