For the 19th edition of VIENNA SHORTS we received just over 5,000 short films from all around the world. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all filmmakers who produced films last year despite worldwide restrictions due to the pandemic and who have now also submitted them.

Each year, the festival screens around 35 productions in each of the two international competition categories Fiction & Documentary and Animation Avantgarde, and around 15 to 25 films in each of the two national categories Austrian Competition and Austrian Music Video Award. A total of 25,000 euros in prize money is awarded. The winners can also qualify for the Academy Awards, the BAFTA, the European Film Award and the Austrian Film Award.
