For a research project at the Medical University of Vienna, an approximately 15-minute fiction film focusing on a person in a serious crisis is to be produced by mid-2024. We will provide a production budget of 40,000 euros for the best submission.

One of the special features of the project is that the film is to culminate in three different scenarios: Once the main character overcomes the crisis; once the situation remains in a state of limbo; and once the protagonist takes his or her own life.

The film needs to be shot in Vienna, its main language needs to be German. All details about the call for entries can be found here. Submissions are open until November 15 via email to auftragsfilm@viennashorts.com. Submissions require a treatment (max. 1 page), explanations of the realization (max. 1 page), and personal info such as motivation and filmography (max. 1 page).

The research project of the Center for Public Health at the Medical University of Vienna investigates the effects of crisis portrayals in cinema on the audience. The research management will accompany the project in an advisory capacity from the time the contract is awarded.
