As a film critic, Marcelo Ikeda wrote many articles to Brazilian websites such as Claquete, Revista Etcetera, Plano a Plano and Curta o Curta and magazines (Revista Cinemais, Zine Incinerasta, Revista Glauberianas). He is also known by his work in the organization of Film Festivals, such as the "Free Film Festival" (Mostra do Filme Livre) in Rio de Janeiro since 2003. He is a teacher at Núcleo de Cinema e Vídeo do Ateliê da Imagem (Rio de Janeiro), at the Instituto Dragão do Mar and Escola do Audiovisual , both in Fortaleza. At present he works at the Brazilian Film Agency – ANCINE – at the Market Monitoring Superintendency (Superintendência de Acompanhamento de Mercado).
