Paper and paint, camera and projector – watch live drawers Mirjam Schweiger and Marianne Vlaschits eye to eye or via live projection while they work.

Mirjam Schweiger (*1986) and Marianne Vlaschits (*1983) have already completed half their studies at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien (Vienna’s Academy of Visual Arts) and share a sense of humour as well as their studio. Both concentrate on comic-like, illustrative drawings, often achieved on a large scale through time-saving mediums such as acrylic paints, acrylic varnish and felt tip pens. More value is set on the speedy realisation of ideas and modern-day relevance than on graphic perfection and tradition. The more instantly their ideas can be visually communicated, the more believable the result seems to Schweiger and Vlaschits. This is why language and texts also play an important part in their work, in order to logically complement the drawings.

During the live drawing performance the artists will depict the tragic-comic love story of Fu-Long the panda and Knut the polar bear. Sex, drugs, migrational background. Not even the most precarious topic will be left out, and yet we can look forward to a magical fairy tale full of cuddly animals and flowers.
