"When the look on a face forebodes its reason, then this look becomes the mirror of fantasy." (Béla Balázs) – Where do you still have the possibility to openly show your emotions and excitement, if not in sports and which sport would be better for this than football? The film features a game of football through the actions and reactions of the fans. The reason for their emotions stays in the off for most of the time. The Fan becomes the medium, which communicates the match. The two teams competing are the Döblinger Kojoten and the FreundInnen der Friedhofstribüne. They fight out the match. Man against man, team against team. May the best man win!

Flat viewing in an elegant Viennese neighbourhood. It seems like the landlady and the potential renter have worked it all out. The girl has been looking for a flat like this one for herself and her boyfriend for quite some time – sunny, spacious and with a large roof terrace. And her classy appearance goes well with the expectations the bourgeois landlady has about future renters. After all, not everybody can afford such an exquisite flat. All that is left to be done is sign the lease. The girl’s boyfriend is about to arrive to do just that. But this is exactly when things get complicated: The girl’s boyfriend is not from Austria.
Schwarze Perlen
Austria 2008, 11 min, language: English, subtitles: English
Director: Benedikt Rubey, Concept: Wolfgang Murnberger, Camera, Production: Harald Staudach, Editors: Benedikt Rubey, Karin Hammer, Music: Boris Fiala
Innumerable sub-Saharan Africans spend years of uncertainty in refugee camps such as the Traiskirchen centre. They wait for a visa, though most of them lack the necessary documents, or the more realistic outcome, deportation. Black Pearls is the name chosen for a football team formed four years ago by African asylum-seekers. Football, as a common language and source of hope, provides an opportunity for them to transform their reality, or just forget it for a while. The film mainly accompanies Larry McDon, the team’s cofounder and top scorer. Glimpses of the team practicing show the players struggling against aimlessness, and it also gives them support and positive energy.
Replay’08
Austria 2008, 11 min, language: German, subtitles: English
Director, Concept: Peter Hörmanseder, Texts: Edi Finger, Armin Hauffe, Editors: Ror Wolf, Peter Hörmanseder, with: Christoph Maria Grissemann, Dirk Stermann
Cordoba, 1978. A reflection on the Austria-Germany game which has become a mythical event. A replay of a replay of a replay. Hans Krankl rejoices, the slow motion almost bringing him to a halt. "Three to two for Austria. After 47 years, ladies and gentlemen. A world-class team’s on the field today." This was the opinion of Austrian sportscaster Edi Finger three decades ago, and it’s also how many Austrians remember it. German radio commentator Armin Hauffe regarded the situation with much less emotion: "Germany lost to Austria three to two in one game. It was a weak international match. That’s all for Cordoba."
TRAILER: RB (concept / director: Robert Buchschwenter)
Ball artistry – away from the pitch: In a fast-paced sequence, 15 Latin-American street gymnasts show how to play with a football, though without following the rules of the game. A breathtaking performance which demonstrates nimble feet and a talent for improvisation.

A football game between two unequally matched groundhog teams. On one side the Super Kickers, beefy, burly, fearless, they have all the tricks, both legal and illegal. With an ultra-tough Super Kicker as leader: Knochenjochen. And the other team, the Underdogs: clumsy, timid, weak, and without a ghost of a chance. Their captain: Peterli, the goalkeeper. It's like Real Madrid against FC Dünnsbach.

Timid Thibault, made neurotic by his omnipresent mother and overly motivated psychoanalyst, loves women and hates football. At the latter's advice, he makes plans to meet his dream woman at the EURO 08 in Geneva. He starts up a male escort service by the name of 11 hommes sur la touche, or 11 Men on the Sideline. Pictures of 11 attractive men, including his own, are posted on the Internet, and he invents a special talent for each. Thibault hopes to meet women who have been abandoned by their football-crazed husbands. But his only score is pretty Yelda, a dedicated fan of the Turkish team.
