This year’s Animation Schools of the World, presented by Thomas Renoldner since three years, will introduce the Studio of Animation Film in Cracow’s Art Academy, after showcasing London and Paris in previous years. Last year the studio celebrated its 50th anniversary, since 1980 it has been run by Jerzy Kucia (whom VIS is honouring with a tribute programme). Starting out as an additional institution for young painters and sculptors, the animation studio is now widely acknowledged and has an excellent reputation. The selection of seven films for the festival comprises the best works of the last 12 years. Since then Kucia also organises the "Cracow Animated Film Workshop" at the academy, which has already been attended by numerous international guests, as well as several Austrian artists. (52 min)
