The artists Norbert Pfaffenbichler and Lotte Schreiber have been working together since almost ten years. Alongside numerous exhibition projects and several curatorial works, three of their films will be presented as joint ventures. What you notice first of all about the wonderfully abstract miniatures 36, piano phase and a1b2c3 is the structural approach, the propensity to mathematical minimalism and a penchant for clear shapes and lines.

To a certain degree Pfaffenbichler and Schreiber also indulge in this penchant in those films that came into being outside of their artistic collaboration: although the approach becomes more narrative and the styles differ from one another considerably, the mostly very precise quest for form and the highly analytical and detailed modus operandi are very present here as well.

While Pfaffenbichler, who studied visual media design at the University for applied arts in Vienna, throws himself into narrative cinema in a predominantly metric manner in his own works (Mosaik Mécanique), Schreiber, who studied architecture in Graz, Edinburgh and Naples, concentrates more on architectural (quadro) and scenic (I.E. [site 01-isole eolie]) spaces, using a mostly static camera und severe frames. Never without the influence of the respective other, three different ways of working can be distinguished in their work as an artistic duo. And, simultaneously, on the big screen the main features of their duo-work can be indirectly comprehended.
